Backups
Keep restorable copies of a server, and rebuild it here or on a new one.
A backup is a copy of your server: every channel and category, every role and permission, the server settings, your emojis, automod rules, onboarding and welcome screen, and your whole Fenrai configuration. It can be restored onto the same server after something goes wrong, or onto a brand new one when you move.
Backups are part of the paid plans. Free servers do not have them.
Taking one
Dashboard > Backups > New backup. Give it a name if you want one, and it runs in the background while the page reports what it is doing.
Switch on Back up on a schedule and Fenrai takes one for you, as often as your plan allows: every 30 days on Standard, every 7 on Pro. Turning it on takes one straight away. Each plan keeps four backups, and a new one replaces the oldest.
Restoring
Every backup has a Restore button, and the dialog asks two things.
Which mode. Add what is missing creates what the backup has and deletes nothing, which is the safe choice for a server already in use. Replace everything deletes the current channels and roles first, and asks you to type the server name to confirm.
Whether the destination is ready. Before anything is touched, Fenrai checks the destination against Discord: that you own it, that the bot is there with Administrator, that its role sits above every other one, that the structure fits inside Discord's limits, and what a full restore would delete. Anything failing blocks the button and says what to fix.
A full restore always takes a copy of the destination first, kept for seven days, so a restore aimed at the wrong server can be undone.
Moving to a new server
Dashboard > Backups > Move this server rebuilds this server on another one, reading it as it is right now rather than from a stored backup. It takes no backup slot and does not wait out the backup interval, which is the point: nobody moving their community today wants to wait a month. It is a Pro feature.
Create the new server yourself and invite Fenrai to it first, with Administrator and its role at the top. A bot cannot create a server for you, so the destination has to exist before it shows up in the picker.
If you pay for the plan on the old server, move it across from Billing > Move this plan to another server. The subscription keeps its price and renewal date, and your AI credits for the period go with it.

Two limits are worth knowing before you plan a move. Discord does not let a bot create a server, so the destination is always one you made. And the destination starts at boost level zero, so emojis, role icons and audio quality that needed boosts will not all fit; whatever does not is listed in the report when the restore finishes.
Messages
A backup can include the last 100 messages of each text channel, on Pro only. The option is off by default and chosen per backup, and scheduled backups never include messages.
Restored messages are copies, not the originals. They are posted through a webhook wearing each author's name and avatar, with the original date written underneath. Reactions do not come back, mentions are switched off so replaying history cannot ping your whole server, and attachments are kept as links to Discord's copies, which may already be gone.
When something is deleting a lot at once
If channels or roles start disappearing in bulk, Fenrai emails the server owner and its administrators, tells them when the newest usable backup was taken and links straight to the restore. It deliberately does not take a backup at that moment: a copy made mid-incident is a copy of the damage.
Check who did it and remove their permissions before restoring, otherwise the same thing happens to the rebuilt server.
Where backups are kept, and for how long
Backups are stored privately with our file storage provider, under a name that cannot be guessed from your server id, and every download is a signed link that expires after fifteen minutes. You can download any backup as a file, and delete any of them at once.
A backup is deleted when it falls out of the four kept, when it passes your plan's retention window, or thirty days after Fenrai is removed from the server. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
